FrontPage
Help - Linking
to a sound file on a web page.
Note:
There is a
relatively painless way to link to sound files on a web page. It takes a
little practice, but it is easier than it sounds. The drag and drop
technique will be used to do this tutorial. As usual, a web page will have
to be open in the FrontPage Editor to do this tutorial.
1. Place the FrontPage Editor in the task bar. Then
bring up the FrontPage Explorer on your screen and put it in Folders or
All Files View. Click the restore button located between the X and the -
in the top right hand corner. Size FrontPage Explorer to fill one-quarter
to one-third of the computer screen.
2. Find the folder you stored the sound
file and then double click on it. Then click the restore button in the
manner described above to fill one-third to one-half of the screen.
3. Click on the desired sound file and
while holding down on the left mouse button, drag the file from the folder
where it resides to the FrontPage Explorer screen. Release the mouse
button. A small icon that looks like a blank piece of paper can be found
next to the name of the sound file.
4. With the FrontPage Editor open, type in the name of
the sound file where you want it to appear on your page, and then
highlight it.
Note: One may also link to a graphic image in the
same way described in Tutorial Five, Hyperlink using graphics.
5. With the text highlighted, choose Ctrl
K or Insert Hyperlink. The Create Hyperlink Dialog Box appears. Scroll
down until you see the name of the sound file and then click once on it.
The name of the sound file appears in the URL list box. Click OK. Save
your work.
Note:
When desired,
multiple sound files can be highlighted and then dragged and dropped into
FrontPage Explorer in a similar manner as described in Step Three.
Further Note: The drag and drop technique works
well after some practice. When your page is displayed in a browser,
visitors may click on the link to hear the file after they open it from
your web site location or save it to disk.
