The following
procedure constructs a left side background.
1. Open Corel PhotoPaint9.
2. Choose New. The Create a New Image dialog box
appears.
3. Choose size Custom. To the right of Width where it
says inches, click the drop down box and choose pixels.
4. Choose Width: 1280, and Height: 120, Resolution: 72.
Click OK.
5. Choose the magnifying glass on the horizontal
toolbar and right click until the entire image is shown. Right clicking
makes the image working area smaller and left clicking makes the image
working area larger.
Hint: It helps to also collapse the Objects Docker
window.
6. Choose a solid fill color. Right click over black.
Choose Fill Tool. Click on the image and it fills with black.
7. Choose File, Import, Import, (Ctrl. I). Then choose
the image that was previously made in Tutorial Five. Save the tutorial
background if desired by clicking here and then right clicking and
choosing Save Background As to a file destination and then backtracking to
this tutorial.
8. Another tricky part. Click on the second image and
position it on the far left side of the original image making sure it
covers all the black areas. The second image may have to be slightly
resized to work properly.
9. With the Fill Tool enabled, choose Object Combine,
Combine all Objects with Background.
10. Choose Effects, Digimarc, Embed Watermark, and
enter copyright year where appropriate. Click OK.
11. Click File, Save As. Save the file as a JPEG image
and give it an appropriate name.
Note: Be sure to register with Digimarc when installing
your software. It's free and it will save you problems in the long run.
Hint: It is a good idea use an HTML editor to see how the image will
tile on a web page before proceeding further. Step 8 is tricky and takes
some practice to fully master.
