Note: The following
procedure constructs a fun banner. |

1. Open Corel PhotoPaint9, and choose New Image.
2. In the Create a New Image dialog box, choose pixels,
Width:100, Height:150, Resolution:72 dpi.
3. Click Fill Tool, Texture Fill, Edit Fill.
4. Choose Samples, Clouds.heavenly and then choose
Texture #478. |

5. Click the Fill Tool over the new image to fill it
with the cloudy.heavenly texture. |
|

|

 |

6. Now we will add some text to the
image. (For the same of a simple tutorial we will use black text. Choose
from a multitude of colors in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Color
Palette, or several other available palettes. You can even fill the
letters of words with your choice of fills and gradients). Click the Text
tool. Then choose Britannic Bold, size 20. |

7. Left click over the Black color in the Microsoft
Internet Explorer Color Palette. This places the color black under paint to use as text
color. |

8. Click toward the top of the banner
rectangle where indicated in the above left diagram. Press the space bar
five times to center the cursor appropriately, type the word
"He" , as in the second diagram, and press Enter. |

9. Press the space bar four times and then type
"Who" and press enter. Then press the space bar once and type
"Laughs".
10. Click anywhere out of the image to disable the Text
tool. The text changes and has lines moving around on it called dancing
ants. Those ants allow Photopaint to remember the perimeters of your new
font image. |

11. Click over a red color in the
Microsoft Internet Explorer Color Pallete. This places the color red under
paint. Click the Text tool again, and choose Comics, size 22. |

|
12. In an appropriate place below the text "He Who
Laughs", type "Lasts". Notice dancing ants around
"Lasts".
13. Click the Object Picker Tool and then move "He
Who Laughs" and "Lasts" to their desired positions. Notice
that the dancing ants appear on whichever font image is chosen.
14. Click Object, Combine, Combine All Objects With
Background. |

15. Choose Effects, Texture, Stone, Stucco. Set the Roughness
to 50, and Detail to 50. Click OK. |

16. Click Effects, Digimarc, Embed Watermark. Then
enter the copyright year in the space provided in the Embed Watermark
Dialog Box.
17. Click File, Save As. In the Save an Image to Disk
dialog box, choose a File name, and from the FIles of type drop down list
choose JPG-JPEG Bitmaps. |

Note: That's all there is to it.
Experiment with the Image Size and the Object Picker Tool. The Object
Picker Tool can be used to resize and/or make the text distorted. |
