Note: The following
procedure makes a button on a white background.
1. Open Corel PhotoPaint9 and then choose New Image.
2. In the Create a New Image dialog box specify pixels.
3. Under Width type in the number 100. Under Height
type in the number 50. Set the resolution to 72 dpi. Click OK.
4. Click on the Fill Tool. Then click the texture fill
box on the Fill Toolbar and choose Edit Fill.

5. In the Texture Fill dialog box from the Texture
library drop down list choose Samples, Banded Malachite.
6. Click the 1st Mineral drop down box and choose
Other.
7. In the Select Color dialog box choose a dark red
color. (R:133, G:17, B:4). Click OK.
8. Click the 2nd Mineral drop down dox and choose
Other.
9. In the Select Color dialog box choose a bright red
color. (R:242, G:44, B:29). Click OK.
10. Click the 3nd Mineral drop down dox and choose
Other.
11. In the Select Color dialog box choose a bright red
color. (R:250, G:169, B:163). Click OK.12. Click Preview. Clicking the
Preview button again changes the Texture number. Choose Texture number
21142.

13. Click the small triangle on the right bottom of the
Mask Tools icon to choose the type of Mask Tool to use. Choose the circle
Mask Tool.
14. Draw an oval over the malachite texture by left
clicking and while holding down the mouse button over the top left portion
of the malachite rectangle and pulling down and right. A moving line,
called marching ants, in alternating black and white surrounds the size of
the oval you created. |

15. Click the Invert mask icon
located on the horizontal Mask toolbar. A line of marching ants surrounds both the
oval you created and the whole malachite rectangle. |

16. Click Effects, 3D
Effects, The Boss. |

17. In The Boss dialog box and the Edge
tab set the Width to about 9, Height to 16, Smoothness 23, and Drop
off: Mesa. |

18. In the Lighting tab or The Boss
dialog box set the Brightness to 53, Sharpness to 1, Direction to 56,
and Angle to 20. Click OK. |

19. Click Mask, Invert, then Edit, Copy.
20. Open a New Image, and in the Create a New Image
dialog box, specify pixels, Width 100, Height 50. Click OK. (Those numbers
should have stayed the same from the last time they were set; but check
them anyway).
21. Choose Edit, Paste, Paste As New Object.
22. Choose Object, Combine, Combine All Objects With
Background.
23. Apply a watermark if desired by choosing Effects,
Digimarc, Embed Watermark. Enter the copyright year in the space provided.
Click OK. (A Creator ID will have to be established with Digimarc
Corporation).
24. Choose File, Save As. In the Save an Image to Disk
dialog box choose a file name. In Files of type choose JPG-JPEG Bitmaps
and click Save.
