What’s Up?: Never Prouder!

They thought their vile act would wound us beyond
repair. They thought that several coordinated acts of terror would bring a
divided nation to its knees throwing the streets into turmoil. They could
not have been more wrong.
Instead, in city and countryside alike, every one of us
felt the pain of the injured and dead in the disaster. When they attacked
New York City, they attacked us all.
Like any tight-knit family we have our differences in
opinion about policy specifics; but in times of crisis those differences
become miniscule compared to our similarities. The winds of freedom blow
strong within all our spirits.
And when President Bush pointed out that Islam was not
our enemy I remembered Moslem friends in college who were some of the most
polite and humble people I had ever had the privilege of meeting. No
person who worshipped their God could be responsible for such atrocities.
Edith Cavell once wrote, "I realize that
patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards
anyone." I harbor no hatred, bitterness is beneath me; but that doesn’t
mean I’ll ever forget.
I’ve never been prouder to be an American than I am
right now. The world needs our strength as a people to take a firm stand
against those who seek to terrorize them. There is no doubt in my mind
that we will deliver again as we have done before.

Web Issues and Stuff: Patriotic Art

I’m proud to announce the display of the patriotic
art of Dennis Gaskill, aka Boogie Jack, in the Web Art section of my site

Dennis’ graphics artistry expertise is famous on the web; and his newest
art captures many essences of our shared feelings of deep patriotism after
the events of September 11, 2001.
My sincere thanks go out to Dennis for allowing me the
distinct privilege to post his art on my site. It was that art that
inspired my "Never Prouder" contribution mentioned above in the
"What’s Up" section.

Web Humor and Entertainment: Oh, Oh..., No ICQ.
==================================
For those who haven’t heard of ICQ don’t feel like
the Lone Ranger. I’m a relative newbie to it also. ICQ is a great way to
chat and send messages online. You can choose those who you want to have
on your contact list; and you can tell when they are online. I use it
instead of a telephone at a fraction of the price when I’m contacting my
resources and they prefer it as well.
There are a number of other features that I really like
about ICQ as well like Privacy Invisible that makes it so I can have
message sessions with my resources without being disturbed by those who
have less pressing matters to attend to.
ICQ has a bunch of hilarious sound effects that they
have incorporated as well. The "Oh-Oh" greeting when a message
comes through to your computer is funny, especially when you’re thinking
of something else and it scares you half out of your wits. For those of
you who don’t like to be scared half out of their wits you can choose to
turn the sound effects option off.
ICQ is one freebie that I use on a daily basis. I like
to engage in message sessions with my chums if nothing else. You can keep
working on whatever task you were doing and refresh yourself periodically
with treasured responses.

I say. I’ve been using it about a month and haven’t had a bit of
trouble with it yet, although I do keep hearing a frog croak just before I
get a file transfer.
